VESPUCCI - a dynamic art collaborative formed by Cody VanderKaay & Rusty Wallace in 2005

After attending an inspirational lecture by Robert Irwin in 2005, long-time friends Rusty Wallace and Cody VanderKaay, made a strategic decision to artistically collaborate, subsequently forming Vespucci. They sought to work in a way that was as anonymous as possible, that is to say, they didn’t want their individual signature creative practices and aesthetics to come through, but rather produce an experience of ‘true collaboration’ – about shared ideas, problem solving, and intentional response to situations and installation spaces. Through a mutually beneficial artistic practice that involves a unique combination of applied and conceptual skill sets, Vespucci has been able to work outside of routine themes to develop new challenges, discursively assess creative content, and realize progressively larger projects. Vespucci has most recently collaborated on their exhibition Interior/Exterior: Structural Constellations at ATHICA, Athens, GA, in 2014. Vespucci can be contacted at vespucciart at gmail dot com.
